China's new EO facility located in Yanshan Harbor area in Shanghai is now open. Featuring the industry's most advanced 32 euro-pallet sterilizers. At 2.4-meter height, the trailer-size sterilization chambers are designed to coordinate with sea container capacity.

The new facility has the capacity to process 180,000 pallets a year, and features advanced technology to minimize emissions into the atmosphere.

Completion nears for upgraded and expanded Sterigenics EO facility in Zoetermeer

Sterigenics has advised European customers that the upgrade to its ethylene oxide (EO) facility in Zoetermeer, Netherlands, will shortly be completed. The upgrade and expansion will result in a larger building, an enhanced appearance, and layout improvements designed to improve product flow, and is the latest in a series of improvements made at the facility over the past year.

Ruud Naar, General Manager of the facility, said “From a customer-service standpoint, the most important work—that is, the upgrade to the sterilizer control and monitoring systems—has already been completed and is in full operation. We currently enjoy the ability to design and run cycles that are significantly more efficient for our customers.”

The decrease in aeration time means sterilized product can be placed on the market in as few as 3 days, giving manufacturers increased flexibility in meeting customer demand and markedly reducing expensive stock in company pipelines

Sterigenics expansion At Petit Rechain, Verviers, Belgium

The announced expansion of the Sterigenics Ethylene Oxide Sterilisation facility at Petit Rechain, Belgium is already well advanced. The main building structure is almost finished and is scheduled to be completed by the end of July.

The additional capacity is on schedule and is expected to be operational by the end of 2006.

Sterigenics expansion at Somercotes, Alfreton, UK

The expansion of Sterigenics' Ethylene Oxide Sterilization facility in Somercotes, UK is well advanced. The main building is finished and excavation of the pits for the automation system and the sterilization chambers has started. A new road around the facility has been built in order to give lorries easier access to the warehouse for loading and unloading from the new yard. The start of operations in the new steriliser is forecast to be during the month of October as announced earlier.
